Message from the Rector

Rev. Canon Paul Jeffries

August 7th, 2010

Dear Friends,

Greetings from all of us at Bishop McAllister College and Bishop McAllister Anglican Seminary!

This weekend brings us to the end of an absolutely wonderful 2nd term at the Seminary for which we are very thankful.  It hasn’t been simple or easy, with the heat, dust, and water shortage, but God is great and faithful, and has clearly given us the grace and patience needed to live together in peace and harmony despite the difficult conditions.

Today we concluded the Rectors Annual 5km Challenge, a grueling run for some of us over 6 hills. Today’s races were the staff race (more than 40 attempted the challenge), the Seminarians, and the finalists from all the previous races. Everyone enjoyed themselves very much whether they ran or walked. I was most impressed with the student who finished in the finals in 7th position having run the entire course in his bare feet. Next term we are thinking one race only for entire school, “The Rectors 10km Run (or walk) for fun!”

Seminarians also participated in their very first District Competition, with the older Scouts. They had a fantastic time and have their stories to tell.(www.bishopmcallisteranglicanseminary.net/scouts.htm )  Senior Scouts finished in first place for their category, and Seminarians finished second in the primary school section. Both patrols, young and old were very pleased with their results and are now busily preparing for the national competition in a week’s time.

We were all very blessed with a visit from Matthew Hawkins for the past 3 weeks. Matthew comes from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Matthew has been busy training the Seminarians to be Servers’, working on the, the College web site, traveling with the students on their annual Geography Trip, and even had time to join in for a friendly soccer match between staff and students, and last but not least the Rectors Challenge.

We are all very excited today as it is only a matter of hours until we officially open “Bishop McAllister Anglican Seminary”. The Inaugural Service is scheduled for Sunday the 8th of August at 10 am. Bishop Michael Hawkins of the Diocese of Saskatchewan is the Guest of Honor. We will also be laying the foundation stone for the Chapel of St. John the Evangelist. We have been so fortunate to be blessed by a donation of $5,000 to help get us started on this by Chesapeake Energy Corporation in Oklahoma, USA.

We are so looking forward to tomorrow, and our hearts are filled with thanksgiving and God’s praise. Please keep us in your prayers, and join in us in giving thanks for all God’s Blessings.

“To God Be the Glory”

Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we continue to remember you in ours! We continue to give thanks for God’s grace, and for your prayers and financial support!

“We are making a difference”

May God bless you all!

Paul
