Message from the Rector Rev. Canon Paul Jeffries December 14th, 2009
Dear Friends, Season’s Greetings from all of us at Bishop McAllister Anglican Seminary! The final two weeks of the term went very well. Students performed very well on their end of term exams, and we were all very satisfied. We finished the term with to functions. On the final night we had our first ever Seminary Banquet. It was a fantastic time with great food (students ate with knives and forks for their first time), table cloths, candles, speeches and finally prizes for the top students. Students are placed in different divisions according to their performance and we gave prizes to everyone who had obtained Division One. The highlight for me was the speech given by the top student, Nasinguza Dereck. He spoke clearly and with a great deal of confidence. Derek left everyone suitably impressed particularly the board members who had joined us for the evening. The whole evening was absolutely fantastic!
The following morning friends, family members, staff and the Chairman of the Board of Governors all gathered to watch the Seminary’s Christmas Pageant. We may have been a bit rough in places as it was new to everyone involved. But it excited the parents, who had never seen children perform a Christmas play before. The response was very encouraging. The program included African performances, Christmas poems and messages, and the Christmas Story.
The classroom block is now almost finished, with just a few days work remaining. For this wonderful development we really Praise God! The Seminary has really gotten off to a great start! Finally as we closed a few students from the secondary school remained behind to work on our newest project, the Eagles Nest, the Seminary’s first dormitory. They have been digging away to prepare the site for two weeks now, and have made great progress. We hope to begin construction in January. We already have sufficient funds to complete the foundation and at least part of the walls. What a wonderful start that will be to the New year! “To God Be the Glory!” Please keep in your prayers all the Seminarians that they may have a Joyful & Peaceful Celebration. Pray for us as we prepare for the challenges of 2010.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone for all your prayers and financial support throughout 2009. Together we are making a difference and changing lives for the better. I wish you all Joy & Peace this Christmas Season!
Merry Christmas from All of Us At Bishop McAllister Anglican Seminary
May God bless you all! Paul
