Message from the Rector

Rev. Canon Paul Jeffries

November 14th, 2009

Dear Friends,

It is with great pleasure that I bring you greetings from myself, the Seminarians, their Teachers, and the entire College community! Our final term of the school year is quickly approaching to an end, with just two weeks remaining. I’m happy to report that this term has gone very well apart from some fear of swine flu outbreaks in our area. We give thanks to God that in the end we were spared any case of serious sickness amongst these young Seminarians. Unfortunately it did mean no family visiting day which they had very much looked forward to.

Just the same it was a busy term for Seminary, with plenty of time for soccer and netball, and other fun activities. I think the highlight for me this term was the recent celebration of all Saints Day. We had a very colorful service (we have taken refuge in one of the new classrooms due to rains) with Mrs. Hope Twinamatsiko as our guest speaker. I was very impressed by how attentive the Seminarians were and how well they participated. From reading lessons, to singing songs, reciting a poem, acting out a short play and bringing it all to wonderful conclusion with a dance.  It was a wonderful All Saints Day celebration!

We continue to take positive steps forward in many areas. In September - October window glasses were put in all the new rooms, and a veranda was constructed around the foundation of the classroom block. Several secondary students worked tirelessly throughout the last holiday digging into the hill so we could enlarge the compound.

We are getting closer to beginning a computer program. On All Saints Day the Seminarians were presented with a brand new laptop, one of three now on hand to help us take this exciting new step forward. The few minutes the Seminarians had with it before we had our All Saints dinner generated a lot of excitement.

We now remain with a busy two weeks before closing.  End of term tests, closing Seminary Banquet, and Christmas Pageant for family and friends should keep everyone well occupied.

We were very excited and thankful to receive news from St. Martins in the Woods, Shediac that they were putting on a medieval madrigal dinner on November 27 & 28th to raise funds for the school.  Check out their poster, it looks like a wonderful time.

On behalf of all the young Seminarians, their teachers and myself we would like to send out our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you for your prayers and financial support.

“To God Be the Glory!”

May God bless you all!

Paul
