Dear Friends,
Greetings from Bishop McAllister College and from our new primary section “Bishop McAllister Anglican Seminary”!
I’m very excited to be announcing with this first “Message from the Rector” the successful introduction of a primary section at Bishop McAllister College.
Since the inception of West Ankole Diocese more than thirty years ago, it has been the dream and vision of the Christians and leadership of the diocese that they would one day have what they envisioned as an Anglican seminary. That is a model primary school that was dedicated to offering a quality education on one hand, but equally committed on the other hand to be a primary school that promoted, fostered and lived the principals and values proclaimed in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and articulated by the Anglican Church of Uganda.
Two years ago Bishop McAllister College was requested by the Synod of West Ankole Diocese to work towards bringing this dream of a Seminary into existence. We were honored to be given this charge, but also a bit intimidated by the enormity of the task.
I’m happy to report June of 2009 we opened the doors of “Bishop McAllister Anglican Seminary” to 24 young students joining their first boarding school in primary five (grade 5). It has been a wonderful and successful beginning, although there is still a long ways yet to go.
Throughout these past months I have felt so blessed to be part of this new initiative. To worship with this young group children, to hear their songs, often their own compositions, or when they read a lesson dramatically has been a delight.
I invite you to take a look at the pages of the Seminary’s new web site to see the good things that have already been accomplished. All of this would not be possible apart from God’s grace and your generous financial support. Thank you so much!
